We are hiring for a Mid-Weight Designer for Illumicrate!
We have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, talented individual with the right to live and work in the UK to join our Design team as a mid-weight designer.
You will have a creative mind, excellent typographic skills and a determination to produce beautiful work. We work closely with celebrated illustrators, always striving to enhance their work rather than overshadow it.
Working alongside the design team, you will be responsible for managing books from initial design through to final files, collaborating closely with the wider creative team, and checking design files and proofs.

35 hours a week, Monday – Friday, flexible on daily working hours

Annual salary of £30,000 - £33,000

Knowledge, skills and experience – required
-
A minimum of three years’ previous experience in a creative design role
-
A portfolio that demonstrates creative flair, versatility and technical skills

Good understanding of publishing and trends in the market

Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)

Experience preparing print-ready files
-
Strong attention to detail
-
Ability to work to deadlines, under pressure at times, and to juggle multiple projects simultaneously

Comfortable working on own initiative
-
Be a brilliant team player, providing support and mentoring to more junior members of the team

Ability to communicate effectively, respectfully and clearly to team members as well as collaborators
-
Ability to take feedback/direction from others
-
A high level of written and verbal proficiency in English

Handle confidential information with care
Key responsibilities:
-
Work collaboratively with the wider creative team, discussing creative direction and feedback, managing projects from concept to production, ensuring they are delivered on time.

Interpreting feedback and implementing changes to designs as required.

Work independently to create beautiful design concepts for a range of titles across the Fantasy, Science Fiction, Horror and Modern Romance genres.

Ensuring that all work is delivered to the highest standard, on schedule, and that all administration and file management is up to date and accurate.

Proofing design files and some general artworking.

Be proactive in looking for fresh design solutions and printing techniques.

Reading manuscripts of books on the design schedule.
