Note from the author: This book is an optimistic one, in which the characters search for and cling to hope in all its many forms. It is also about a gay transgender man existing in the very cisgender, heterosexual space of men’s professional baseball. Please also know that, just as trans people use many different words to describe our bodies, for reasons as varied as the people those words describe, Gene chooses his because they are comfortable to him. They may not be the words every trans man would choose, but they are his.
